REVISED
REGULAR MEETING – VILLAGE OF NICHOLS
September 13, 2011
Call to Order: By President Terry Scheller at 6:30 p.m., with Trustee’s Van Vleet, Pues, Krull and Figlinski present. Also present: Linda Hoes, Roger Ort, Ruth Olson, Sandra Scheller and Paula Scheller.
Pledge of Allegiance: was recited by all in attendance.
Agenda: Motion by Pues/Figlinski to accept the agenda, carried.
Minutes: Motion by Van Vleet/Krull to accept the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on August 9, 2011 and the Special Meeting on August 17, 2011 with the revision to the August 17, 2011 minutes to add Ruth Olson in attendance, carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Motion by Pues/Van Vleet to accept the Treasurer’s Report, carried.
Bills to Approve:
• Motion by Van Vleet/Figlinski to pay the bills beginning with check #14168-14205 with 2 online payments. The Village Water Utility checks #1789-1791, carried.
• Motion by VanVleet/Pues to add check #14195 in the amount of $5674.00 to the existing Nichols Water Utility loan (Street/Storm Sewer repairs), carried.
• Motion by Krull/VanVleet to reduce the interest rate of the Nichols Water Utility loan to 0.0%, carried.
Water & Sewer Report:
• Water valves in the Village were dug up and replaced.
• Curb work needed on Krull Road and Pine St where valve work was done.
• Due to lower rates in the summer, the Bod limits were exceeded. A letter was sent to Mark Corbett explaining the failures.
• Water Treatment Plant audit was done in August. Roger will work on items noted to remain in compliance.
• Digester pump was replaced with the spare pump from the lift station.
• Roger will call for prices on L.P.
Sealed Bids: Two sealed bids were received. Mark Simpson placed a bid for $10 per load and Steve Daniels bid $.55 a yard. It was calculated the Daniels bid would be $9.90 per load. The bid was awarded to Mark Simpson.
Unfinished Business: Grievance Policy: Reviewed and tabled for further information.
New Business:
• Motion by Pues/Krull to issue a New Operator’s license to Sara Lorenz, carried.
• Budget prep meeting set for October 18, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.
Public Input:
• Sandra Scheller commented on new garbage cans.
• Paula Scheller expressed appreciation for the Nichols Rural Fire Dept.’s participation in the 9/11 services in Black Creek.
Future Agendas: Grievance policy.
Adjourn: Motion by Figlinski/Van Vleet to adjourn, carried. 8:00 p.m.
