August 9, 2011 Regular Board Meeting
REGULAR MEETING – VILLAGE OF NICHOLS
August 9, 2011
Call to Order: By President Terry Scheller at 6:30 p.m., with Trustee’s Van Vleet, Pues, Krull and Figlinski present. Also present: Linda Hoes, Roger Ort, Ruth Olson, and Jerry Fuss.
Pledge of Allegiance: was recited by all in attendance.
Agenda: Motion by Krull/Figlinski to accept the agenda, carried.
Minutes: Motion by Van Vleet/Pues to accept the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on July 12, 2011, carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Motion by Pues/Van Vleet to accept the Treasurer’s Report, carried.
Bills to Approve: Motion by Van Vleet/Figlinski to pay the bills beginning with check #14138-14167 with 2 online payments. The Village Water Utility checks #1787-1788, carried.
Water & Sewer Report:
• Maintenance done on the lawn mower.
• The water shut off valve on the corner of Krull Road and Paige Ave. will need to be replaced.
• Maintenance on the tractor.
• Meeting, Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m. to review sealed bids for road construction and disposal of dirt from the project.
Guest: Nichols Nitros baseball team is looking for permission to replace the existing concession stand. Presentation of plans and cost estimate was done by Jerry Fuss. Board looked at the area staked out for the new building. Motion by Van Vleet/Figlinski to grant permission to build the new concession stand, carried; with Krull abstaining from the vote.
New Business:
• Grievance Policy: Reviewed and tabled until the September meeting.
Correspondence: MOU with Outagamie County for Elections was reviewed.
Convene to closed session: President Scheller announced the board will go into closed session, citing Ss 19.85 (1) (c). Roll call vote, all in favor to go into closed session.
Motion by Figlinski/Pues to reconvene to open session, carried.
• Motion by Pues/Krull to pay Roger Ort $95.00 each check to cover the 5.8% required employee portion retirement contribution. In the event the State changes the ruling that employers are required to fund the full retirement contribution; the extra $95.00 check will be discontinued, carried.
Future Agendas: Grievance policy.
Adjourn: Motion by Krull/Van Vleet to adjourn, carried. 8:00 p.m.
