SPECIAL MEETING – VILLAGE OF NICHOLS
August 17, 2011
Call to Order: By President Terry Scheller at 6:30 p.m., with Trustee’s Krull, Pues, Figlinski, Van Vleet present. Also present: Ruth Olson, Roger Ort, Mark Simpson, Al VanStraten (NE Asphalt), and John Carpenter (MCC)
Pledge of Allegiance: was recited by all in attendance.
Agenda: Motion by Van Vleet/Pues to accept the agenda, carried.
Picnic and Temporary Operators License: Motion by Krull/Van Vleet to approve a Picnic License and Temporary Operators License for both Briarton Game Club and the Nichols Rural Fire Dept., carried.
Bids: Sealed bids from Northeast Asphalt Inc. and Murphy Concrete and Construction were submitted for the advertised road construction in the Village of Nichols. Clerk Pues opened the sealed bids and read the contents to the board members. NE Asphalt submitted a bid of $65, 360.00. MCC submitted a bid of $44, 545.00 for the Krull Road reconstruction and a $730.00 bid for the asphalt patch for a total of $45275.00. Motion by Scheller/Krull to award the job to MCC, carried.
Disposal of dirt: Sealed bids can be submitted to the Clerks office for opening at the September 13, 2011 board meeting. High bidder takes all loads of excess dirt from the road reconstruction, approx. 60-70 loads. This will be posted on a separate flyer in the village and listed on the website.
Adjourn: Motion by Pues/Figlinski to adjourn, carried. 6:55 p.m.
